AURORA, Ill. – Junior Holly Denfeld scored 18 points and senior Megan Kroll added 16 as the MSOE women's basketball team defeated Aurora 65-52 Saturday afternoon at Thornton Gymnasium for its ninth-straight win.

The Raiders (9-4, 7-1 NACC) jumped out to a 15-4 lead and was tied with the Spartans (5-8, 4-4 NACC) just once at 2-2 in extending their school-record winning streak.

Denfeld finished 8-of-12 from the field and pulled down eight rebounds in the game. Kroll was 10-for-11 at the free throw line and grabbed nine rebounds. Senior Marly Trier also scored in double-figurres with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Anna Roszkowski led Aurora with 15 points. Mallory Cast added nine points.

The Raiders jumped ahead early, building a 15-4 lead after a Denfeld jumper with 2:34 to play in the first quarter. The Spartans scored the final six points of the frame, but the Red & White extended its advantage to 38-20 at halftime by outscoring the home team 23-10 in the second quarter.

MSOE would see its lead peak at 22 points on freshman Kiana Jeremiah's three-pointer to make it 62-40 with 6:07 remaining in the game.

The Raiders shot at least 50 percent from the field for the third time in four games, making exactly half of their 48 shots in the game. They limited the Spartans to just 32.1 percent shooting in the game. MSOE also held a +10 rebounding advantage at 38-28.

The winning streak has bettered two 7-game runs the Red & White posted last season. During its streak, the team has outscored opponents by an average score of 68.2-47.0.

The Raiders will look to continue their winning ways Wednesday, hosting Lakeland.
