OAK PARK, Illinois – Junior Carly Grant and freshman Olivia Boden each won singles matches and teamed for a doubles point as the MSOE women's tennis team edged Concordia Chicago 5-4 Saturday morning at Oak Park Tennis & Fitness Center.
The Raiders (4-6, 3-3 NACC) took 2-of-3 in doubles play, then won singles matches at No. 1, 5 and 6 to get past the Cougars (0-5, 0-5 NACC).
At No. 1 doubles the team of Grant and Boden picked up an 8-4 win. Grant followed that up with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 singles position. Boden played at No. 6 and shut her opponent out, 6-0, 6-0.
The pairing of sophomore Cali Bonie and freshman Katie Kershaw won at No. 3 doubles in convincing fashion at 8-0. Sophomore Monica Gurdak then rounded out the winners at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Raiders return to action Sunday with a pair of matches at Nicolet High School. MSOE hosts Westminster first at 9 a.m., followed by Mills at 1 p.m.
