MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Hannah Pekarek posted her second-straight double-double as the MSOE women's volleyball team fell to Aurora in three sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-14, Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (2-12, 1-4 NACC) hit just .044 in the match compared to .309 by the Spartans (14-7, 4-1 NACC).

Pekarek notched 11 kills and 12 digs on the day, adding a pair of service aces. Senior Sarabeth Haworth added eight kills.

Katie Vondra finished with a match-best 17 kills for Aurora to go with five aces and 11 digs.

MSOE hung with Aurora early in each of the three sets, but the visitors went on back-breaking runs each time to pull away. In the opener, AU played from the lead for the whole set, but led just 14-10 before a 6-0 run made it a 10-point deficit for the Red & White. It then closed out the game with four of the final five points.

In the second set, the Raiders had led early, but the Spartans caught up. The score was tied at 18-18 when Aurora scored the final seven points for the win. The visitors also scored the final five points of the decisive frame after breaking an early tie and steadily pulling away.

The Raiders return to action next Friday at Benedictine.
