Box Score MILWAUKEE - Junior Melina Lynn scored three goals and tallied an assist to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 9-1 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
With the win, combined with an Edgewood loss, the Raiders (14-3-1, 9-0 NACC) clinched the NACC regular season championship with one match remaining.
The Warriors actually scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. MSOE quickly responded less than five minutes later and put in three more goals for a 4-1 lead at halftime. The Red & White then tacked on five second-half goals for its largest win of the season.
In addition to Lynn's hat trick, senior Sara Travia added two goals and an assist to add to her league-leading total and pull within two points of Jessica Axt's school record of 167 career points.
Seniors Caitlin Liddiard, Ally Brehm, junior Missy Schultz and freshman Jeray Riffel each added goals.
The Raiders outshot WLC 33-8 in the match, including 23-4 in shots on goal. Four different keepers saw action for MSOE, combining to make three saves. Junior Mary McFee played just over 48 minutes in goal to earn the win.
The championship was the first for the program, which won its first title of any kind last season with a NACC Tournament crown. The Red & White has won 20-straight matches against league teams and is one win back of last season's school-record 15 wins.
The Raiders close out the regular season Wednesday at Concordia Chicago. They open play in the NACC Tournament Nov. 1 in the semifinals and will play the lowest-seeded team after the first round.
