Women's Volleyball Drops Three-Setter at Stritch

Box Score

GLENDALE, Wisconsin – The MSOE women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss against Cardinal Stritch, 25-20, 25-23, 25-12, Tuesday evening on the road.

The Raiders (5-16) could not overcome the Wolves (17-17) attack on the night, as the home team hit .276 in the match and .500 in the third set alone.

Sophomore Hannah Pekarek led MSOE with six kills and four total blocks. Sophomore Elsey Kohlman added five kills. Freshman Allison Laurent posted a double-double with 10 assists and a team-best 11 digs.

Michelle Schuh had 16 kills and Emily Clinton notched 10 for Stritch.

The opening set was hard-fought early and was tied at 17-17 when CSU rattled off three-straight points. The Raiders pulled within 21-19, but the Wolves responded with four of the final five points of the set.

MSOE got on track in the second set, breaking an 8-8 tie with eight-straight points as part of a 12-3 run to take a 20-11 lead. Unfortunately, Stritch quickly rebounded with a 14-3 run to snatch the game and take a 2-0 lead in the match. CSU then carried that momentum over into the third set by jumping out to a 23-8 lead and not looking back.

The Raiders close out the season this weekend at the Barker Chevrolet Volleyball Classic III hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. They open the tourney Friday against Cornell at 5:30 p.m.
