MILWAUKEE – Juniors Tom Smith and John Price combined on all three points for the MSOE men's tennis team as it fell to Lawrence 6-3 in its home opener Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders (1-4) claimed one doubles point and a pair during singles play against the Vikings (1-0).
Price continued his outstanding start to the season, winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at No. 2 singles to improve to 4-1 in singles play. Smith, meanwhile, made his singles debut after playing just doubles in each of the first three dual meets of the season. He played at No. 3 singles and scored a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Already one of the more prosperous duos in school history, the pairing of Price and Smith picked up their second win in four appearances this season. They got the win at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
MSOE put together a number of strong performances throughout the lineup, as junior David Gorodetsky and sophomore Mason Sauder fell by just two at No. 1 doubles. In singles, Sauder pushed his match at No. 4 singles to three sets, as did sophomore Ryan Runke in the No. 6 position.
