Box Score SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Seniors Austin Stueck and Connor Patterson each scored more than 20 points to lead the MSOE men's basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Lakeland Tuesday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Raiders (12-10, 9-8 NACC) rattled off a 27-6 run over the end of the first half and start of the second to overtake the Muskies (13-10, 9-9 NACC) and they never looked back.
Stueck finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds on 11-of-17 shooting, while Patterson notched 21 in the game.
Four different players scored in double-figures for Lakeland, led by Pat McDonald's 13. Brandon James tallied 12, Tanner Hackl had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Mark Gryszkiewicz added 10.
MSOE trailed 27-26 with 2:21 remaining in the first half, but closed out the frame with eight-straight points to take a 34-27 lead into intermission. It then scored the first eight points of the second half to push its lead to 42-27 at the 16:30 mark. After five-straight LC points, the Raiders went on another 11-1 run to pull ahead by 20 points with 11:24 to play.
The lead peaked at 21 points at 57-36, before the play leveled off. Lakeland pulled as close as nine before the final minute and hit a layup with three seconds remaining to pull as close as seven at the end.
The Red & White shot 50.9 percent in the game and made 16-of-21 from the free throw line. Defensively, it limited the Muskies to 39.1 percent shooting and blocked a season-high seven shots. LC did win the turnover battle, 15-8, but MSOE finished with nine more rebounds, 39-30.
The Raiders are back in action at Dominican Saturday.
