BROOKFIELD, Wis. – The MSOE men's tennis team had three different players score in both singles and doubles play to secure a 6-3 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Friday afternoon at Elite Club.
The Raiders (3-9, 1-0 NACC) opened conference play with a victory over the Warriors (1-8, 0-1 NACC) by taking a pair of doubles matches and four of the singles points.
Junior John Price was the top winner, claiming victories at both No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. In doubles play, he paired with junior Tom Price for an 8-1 win. The duo moved to 15-0 in their career as partners in conference play. In singles, Price scored a 6-4, 6-3 win.
Junior Austin Campbell and senior Tyler Hannen also netted two points each. They were partners at No. 3 doubles and won handily, 8-1. Campbell then won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Haanen, meanwhile, played at No. 5 singles and won 7-5, 6-3.
Rounding out the scorers was junior Kyle Fassbender in singles play. He took the No. 6 role and claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Smith played at No. 2 singles and suffered his first-ever NACC loss, but did push his opponent to three sets.
The Raiders return to the courts Saturday against Aurora.
