MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's tennis team punched its ticket into the NACC Tournament Semifinals with a 5-3 victory over Aurora Tuesday afternoon at McKinley Marina.
The No. 3-seeded Raiders (9-13) got past the No. 6 Spartans (3-11) to move into Sunday's semifinal match against No. 2 Concordia Wisconsin at 11 a.m. in Madison.
Juniors John Price and Tyler Haanen were each double winners on the day with wins in both doubles and singles play.
Price and junior Tom Smith posted their 11th win of the season together, emerging victorious 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Price then claimed a shutout victory at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to improve to 10-6 this season in the No. 1 position and 14-7 overall.
Haanen continued a strong campaign of his own, winning his fourth-straight singles match and improving to 8-4 in singles this season, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, at No. 5. He teamed with junior Austin Campbell for a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-1. That pairing moved to 8-3 on the season.
MSOE's fifth point came at No. 6 singles, where sophomore Ryan Runke secured a straight-sets win, 6-1, 6-1.
Campbell was leading his match in a third-set tie-breaker when the dual meet was decided, leaving the match unfinished.
