WAUKESHA, Wisconsin – Freshman Sammy Soeder was a double-point winner in her collegiate debut as the MSOE women's tennis team opened the 2016 season with a 6-3 loss on the road to Carroll.
The Raiders (0-1) got wins from Soeder at No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles with junior Carly Grant, but it was not enough against the Pioneers (1-0).
Soeder's day started when she paired with Grant for an 8-4 win in doubles play. Soeder then picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 position. Sophomore Cali Bonie was also victorious on the day, playing at No. 3 singles and coming away with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 win.
MSOE returns to the court Saturday in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, playing UW-Stevens Point at 9 a.m. and Loras at noon.
