Box Score APPLETON, Wisconsin – Junior Braden Andryk scored two goals and assisted on another as the MSOE men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout of Lawrence on a rainy Wednesday evening at the Banta Bowl.
The Raiders (1-2) struck first just minutes from halftime, then extended their lead over the Vikings (0-2) just minutes after the break.
Andryk nearly outshot Lawrence in the game, equaling the home team 9-9, while putting four shots on target. His first goal came in the 42nd minute off an assist from junior Brandon Herman.
He then had a hand in junior Sean Tabbert's goal just over two minutes into the second half. Freshman Austin Schmidt also notched an assist as Tabbert pounced on a loose ball and drove it into the net from just outside the six-yard box.
MSOE then put the game away in the 72nd minute with Andryk finishing off from an assist by freshman Tony Roselli.
The Red & White held a decisive 19-9 shot advantage in the game, including 11-3 on shots on goal. It also forced nine corner kicks in the game compared to just one by LU.
Senior Jeff Clements got the start in goal and made two saves in a scoreless first half. Sophomore Riley Bruce then stopped one shot in the second half to secure the shutout.
The Raiders are back in action this weekend, hosting Illinois Tech Friday and Rose-Hulman Sunday.
