Men's Basketball Sees Win Streak End vs. CUW

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Senior Collin Seubert finished with 26 points, but the MSOE men's basketball team fell to Concordia Wisconsin 83-74 Tuesday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (7-7, 6-4 NACC) lost their shooting touch in the second half and saw their five-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Falcons (9-6, 8-4 NACC).

Seubert finished the game shooting 9-of-20 from the field and hit four 3-pointers. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the game. Sophomore Jason Palesse had 13 points and senior Dylan Sommerfeld chipped in 11.

Josh Hau and Eric Kittel led CUW, with Hau tallying 28 points and nine rebounds. Kittel scored 26 points and dished out nine assists.

MSOE hung with the fast-paced CUW offense throughout the first half and hit on four of its first five shots of the second half to take its largest lead of the game at 48-44. Unfortunately, the Red & White went cold from the field, making just two of its next 13 shots allowing the Falcons to seize momentum in the game.

After CUW went on a 14-4 run to take a 58-52 lead, the Raiders quickly answered with six-straight points to tie the game at 58-58. While that was the last tie of the game, MSOE was still within one at 62-61 when the Falcons used a 13-4 run to open its first double-digit lead of the game at 75-65 on a Jake Jurss three-pointer.

Freshman Matt Kirmse pulled the Red & White within six with a pair of free throws with just under two minutes remaining, but that was as close as the team would get.

The Raiders were on fire from deep in the first half. They scored their first 12 points on three-pointers and went 7-of-13 from beyond the arc in the first half. After the break, however, they went 0-for-11. MSOE finished the game shooting 41.2 percent for the game after sitting at over 50 percent early in the second half.

Concordia Wisconsin shot a robust 56 percent for the game, including 7-of-17 from three-point range. The visitors also finished 14-for-15 at the free throw line.

The Raiders return to the court Monday at No. 19 Benedictine.
