Schultz PK Sends Women's Soccer Past CUW, 2-1

Box Score

MEQUON, Wisconsin – Senior Missy Schultz converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute to lift the MSOE women's soccer team past Concordia Wisconsin 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field.

The Raiders (9-7, 7-1 NACC) won for the seventh-straight time, overcoming a 1-0 Falcons (6-6-3, 5-2-1 NACC) lead after 14 minutes.

Freshman Brooke Zidek drew the decisive spot kick, being taking down while slicing through the CUW defense towards goal. When play resumed, Schultz stepped up and converted the penalty kick for the game-winner.

Concordia Wisconsin scored first on an Allison McElwee goal in the 14th minute. MSOE was relatively quick to answer, with freshman Nora Adkins netted her seventh goal of the season just over nine minutes later in the 23rd minute to pull her side level.

The Raiders nearly doubled the home team's shot total with a 17-9 advantage, including 9-5 in shots on goal. They also had the edge in corner kicks, 5-3.

Sophomore Abbie Lorenz made her fourth-straight start in goal, improving to 4-0 with four saves on the afternoon.

MSOE looks to continue its winning ways on the road Friday at Aurora. With a win, the Red & White would clinch a top-two seed in the NACC Tournament and the first round bye that comes with it.
