Box Score MILWAUKEE – Senior Joe Oswald tied a school record with five assists and senior Braden Andryk notched a hat trick to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to an emphatic 13-0 victory over Lakeland Wednesday night at Viets Field.
The Raiders (10-6, 6-4 NACC) locked up the No. 5 seed in the NACC Tournament with the win and will play at No. 4 Aurora Saturday in the tournament's first round.
MSOE scored 10 first half goals, with Oswald and Andryk each doing their notable damage in that time. Oswald added a goal of his own in the second half.
Senior Peyton Tebon scored two goals of his own in the first half and sophomore Zach Blair had two second half goals, while seniors Sam D'Amato, Brandon Herman, Caleb Tadysak, junior Stephen Bagin, and freshman Kollin McGregor also scored goals.
Seniors Sean Tabbert and Tim Engel had two assists apiece.
Bagin notched the eventual game-winner in just the third minute. D'Amato followed suit in the 13th minute before Andryk nabbed back-to-back goals just 15 seconds apart at 19:03 and 19:18.
After Herman made it 5-0 in the 33rd minute, the Raiders netted another two goals in a 14-second span, with Tadysak scoring off a corner kick and Andryk completing his hat trick in quick succession. Tebon then capped the first half scoring with goals in the 39th and 43rd minutes.
McGregor scored his first collegiate goal to open the second-half scoring, just 2:25 after the break. Blair then scored goals in the 60th and 81st minutes before Oswald put the cherry on top of his career night with a goal of his own in the 85th minute.
The Red & White dominated from start to finish, allowed a minimal amount of attacking forays by the Muskies. The Raiders outshot the visitors 48-5 and edged them in corner kicks, 14-2. Two keepers split time in goal, with junior Riley Bruce making a save in the first half and junior Ryan Snyder stopping one shot in the second to secure the shutout.
In records that date back to 2004, MSOE set team single-game marks for goals, assists, margin of victory and shots. Meanwhile, Oswald's matched the single-game assist record set by Logan Andryk on Sept. 23, 2015, at Edgewood.
The hat trick was the school-record fifth of Braden Andryk's career.
