Box Score SHEBOYGAN, Wisconsin – Senior Rachel Lynde had 11 kills and 14 digs as the MSOE women's volleyball team fell to Lakeland 25-23, 25-20,25-21, Wednesday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Raiders (7-8, 0-2 NACC) opened the match hitting .242 in the opening set but could not overcome the Muskies (4-11, 1-1 NACC) in the sweep.
Lynde hit .321 with just two errors in posting her sixth-straight appearance with at least 10 kills. Junior Hannah Pekarek added eight kills in the match. Senior Aleah Quast continues to creep up on 1,000 career digs, finishing with 12 on the night to push her total to 995.
Shannon Bishop had a match-high 13 kills for Lakeland.
MSOE hit .140 for the match to the home team's .207.
The Muskies countered the Red & White's strong attacking first set with a .310 hitting clip of their own. It was a tightly-played period as LU Broke an 18-18 tie with a 3-0 run for a bit of breathing room. The Raiders fended off back-to-back set points to pull within 24-23, but that was as close as they'd get.
MSOE jumped out to a 5-1 lead in second set before Lakeland came back to take the lead. It then scored four-straight points to break a 16-16 tie this time and take the lead for good. The final game was a see-saw affair with each tea rattling off runs. The Red & White fell behind 18-12 but would counter with an 8-2 stretch to tie the set at 20-20. Unfortunately, LU scored five of the final six points to take the match.
The Raiders are back in action this weekend with four matches at the IIAC/NACC Crossover hosted by Central in Pella, Iowa. They open the tournament Friday at 1 p.m. vs. Loras.
