Women's Basketball Loses at Benedictine

LISLE, Illinois – Senior Shaylan Reardon scored 16 points to lead the MSOE women's basketball team into action at Benedictine Saturday in a 74-41 loss at the Rice Center.

The Raiders (5-8, 3-5 NACC) were held under 30 percent shooting as the Eagles (10-2, 7-0 NACC) pulled away in the second half and remained undefeated in league play.

Junior Kiana Jeremiah added six points and junior Samantha Brooker grabbed 11 rebounds in the game.

Jenna Endres was the lone BenU player to score in double-figures with 10 points off the bench while five more players added at least seven points in the game.

MSOE played catch-up the entire game, but held with the first-place Eagles in the early-going of the game. The home team jumped out to a 9-2 lead before the Raiders scored the next seven points to level the game at 9-9. The score would be tied again two more times, finally at 19-19 before a 7-2 run to end the half put Benedictine in the lead 26-21.

Brooker opened the scoring in the second half with a pair of free throws to make it a three-point game before the Eagles just pulled away. They would MSOE 26-8 in the third quarter and by 10 in the fourth quarter to finish out the game.

The Raiders were limited to 26.9 percent shooting in the game and hit on just 2-of-15 from three-point range. Meanwhile, BenU shot 40.6 percent with 9-of-27 on three's.

MSOE looks to bounce back Wednesday, hosting Concordia Chicago at the Kern Center.
