Women's Soccer Posts Second-Straight Shutout

Box Score

CHICAGO, Illinois – Freshman Jill Ruark scored a goal in the 11th minute and a pair of keepers combined on 12 saves to make it hold up in the MSOE women's soccer team's 1-0 victory over North Park early Saturday evening at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.

The Raiders (3-4) posted their second-straight shutout, and third in four games, to down the Vikings (2-4) on the road.

Juniors Abbie Lorenz and Allison Lessila split the game in goal with Lorenz picking up the win with eight first-half stops. Lessila closed out the shutout with four saves in the second half, all coming inside six furious minutes to start the period.

Ruark struck early for the game's lone goal, finishing a breakaway off a pass from senior Shelby Namen in just 10:38 into the match. It was her third goal of the week, as she scored her first two collegiate goals Thursday in a 2-0 win over Lake Forest.

North Park held a 17-14 advantage in shots for the match, putting 12 on target compared to nine by the Raiders. The Red & White did force a 4-1 edge in corner kicks for the match.

MSOE returns to the field Wednesday, hosting Edgewood in its NACC opener.
