MEQUON, Wisconsin – The MSOE women's tennis team opened conference play with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Concordia Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon at the CUW Tennis Courts.
The Raiders (0-4, 0-1 NACC) played extremely competitive throughout the doubles competition but was just unable to get a point from the defending conference champion Falcons (2-0, 1-0 NACC).
In doubles, MSOE fell 8-3 at No. 1 and No. 3 but saw its No. 2 pairing of sophomores Cierra Smith and Katie Clements go down swinging at 8-5.
Freshman Hannah Marron at No. 2, Smith at No. 4, and sophomore Leah Becker at No. 6 were able to push single sets to 6-3 but that was as close as the Raiders got to scoring in the singles portion.
MSOE returns to the courts Saturday against Edgewood at McKinley Park.
