Raiders Top Warriors 5-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE – It was the last regular season home game for the Raiders men's soccer program, and possibly the last home game for the rest of the season. If that was the swan song at Viets Field in 2019, it was a nice way to go out. The Red & White dominated the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday afternoon, giving their eight seniors a 5-0 win.

RESULTS
Wisconsin Lutheran – 0
MSOE – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (8-6-2, 6-3-1 NACC) came to win on Saturday, a few days removed from coming back and almost walking away with a win against Concordia Wisconsin but having had to settle for a tie. Unfortunately for Wisconsin Lutheran (6-9-1, 2-7-1 NACC), that meant that they were the ones in the Raider crosshairs. The Red & White came out on fire, scoring three goals before 18 minutes had elapsed on the game clock. Joey Schauer kicked off the festivities with a goal set up by outgoing German exchange student Danny Scheel at 6:50. Schauer would be involved on the next goal, setting up Carson Albert to make it 2-0 Raiders less than three minutes later. The final goal of the first half was a true senior connection as Antonio Roselli set up Drew Baumann for a goal that sent the stands into a frenzy at the 18' mark. The Raiders weren't done, however. Two more goals would come in the second half, the first from Lucas D'Amato who buried a penalty kick to make it 4-0. Last, but certainly not least, was another senior getting in on the action. Zach Blair had the most memorable moment of the afternoon when he scored his first goal since October 25, 2017 to close out the Raider scoring thanks to an Albert assist. While Ron Marchionna got the start between the pipes, senior Patrick Grund came in to replace him after 26 minutes with the two teammates hugging as one replaced the other. The Warriors were limited to just four shots on goal and six overall in the 5-0 Red & White victory.

WHO'S ON DECK
A lot is still up in the air when it comes to playoff seeding for the Raiders and the rest of the NACC with all of it falling in place after the regular season wraps up on Wednesday. The Raiders will try to jockey for the best possible seed they can get when they take on Concordia Chicago on the road starting at 2:00 pm.
