Team Effort Nets Raiders Win Over Muskies

Box Score

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – MSOE women's soccer opened up the 2019 NACC season this evening, looking to get back over the .500 mark on the season against Lakeland. Unfortunately for the Muskies, they had to bear the Raiders wrath after being shutout against St. Norbert, as the Raiders put five goals by five different scorers on the board in their conference opening victory.

RESULTS
MSOE – 5
Lakeland – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
There was no way that Lakeland (1-6-1, 0-2 NACC) was going to be able to stop MSOE (4-3-1, 1-0 NACC) with how the Raiders played a complete team game this evening. In fact, it would have been hard for anyone to beat them. The Raiders outshot the Muskies 27-3 and only allowed their opponent to register two shots on goal compared to their 17. The scoring started at the very onset of the game when Megan Core scored at 3:26 to put the Red & White up for good. Jeray Riffel helped set up the score, something she did four different times tonight. The senior captain also helped out on the goals of Caitie LeVasseur (18'), Nicole Robb (25'), and Jade Becknell (83'). The only goal that she didn't have a hand in was Josie Kunz's unassisted tally at the 81' mark.

20 different MSOE student-athletes found their way onto the field, including all three of their netminders. The team of Tamryn Syron, Abbie Lorenz, and Allison Lessila shut the door on the two lone threats seen this evening as the Raiders lock down win number one in what should be an exciting NACC season.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • What's your goal: After scoring just six times through the first five games of the season, the Raiders have now tallied 11 in their past three.
  • A night for the record books: Jeray Riffel's four assists marks the 15th time such a feat has happened in the program's history during a single game, and the first time it's happened since she accomplished the same feat back on September 29th of last year.
