Box Score MILWAUKEE – Needing to turn things around in NACC play, MSOE men's basketball took to the court against Lakeland University, one of the four first place teams in the conference. It seemed like the roles should have been reversed though, as the Raiders put on a dominate performance to win their first game of 2020.
RESULT
Lakeland – 70
MSOE – 95
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (5-6, 2-4 NACC) had firm control of Saturday afternoon's game pretty much once the ball was tipped off. There was only one lead change which occurred at 17:27 in the first period. Sammy Linn made his first basket of the season to give the Raiders a slim 4-2 lead, but the Red & White would not look back. A 10-0 run in the middle of the half cemented the outcome in a matchup that saw the Raiders hold a 39-point advantage at one point. MSOE shot 52.7 percent from the field and made 14 of their 16 free throw attempts. The Muskies on the other hand shot just 36.7 percent and missed nine charity stripe opportunities in the Raiders impressive 25-point victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- There's no nice way to put it. The Raider absolutely obliterated the Muskies inside the paint. MSOE held a 62-20 advantage in that category.
- Sammy Linn saw his first game action of the season this afternoon and it felt like he didn't miss a beat. The junior scored 11 points, bringing down seven rebounds in the process.
- MSOE didn't lead wire to wire, but they were ahead on the scoreboard for 37 of the 40 minutes played.
