AURORA, Ill. – Some say it's not how you start but how you finish. Unfortunately, for MSOE women's basketball tonight that saying should have been reverse. The Raiders got outscored 27-2 in the first ten minutes of play, setting themselves up for the 19-point defeat they suffered at the hands of Aurora this evening on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter has never really been MSOE's (8-16, 8-11 NACC) strong suit this season and it certainly wasn't tonight. The Raiders made just one of their 11 shots in the opening frame this evening against an Aurora (16-9, 11-8 NACC) team that is fighting for their NACC tournament lives. It didn't help that the Spartans shot 73.3 percent on the other end of the court either, as AU put themselves up by 25 heading into the second. Things got better from there for the Red & White, who actually outscored Aurora in two of the three remaining quarters and tied them in the other. However, they were not able to outscore them by that many, though they were able to shave six points off the deficit by the end of the ballgame. The Raiders outscored AU in points within the paint 26-16, but it was the Spartan's 19-6 second chance points advantage that really helped them set the tone in the Raiders loss on Wednesday night.
