Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – The No. 5 seeded MSOE men's basketball team gave everything they had and left it all out on the floor on Saturday night against the hosting No. 3 seed Concordia Wisconsin Falcons, but sometimes that just isn't quite enough. The Raiders ran into a scoring drought at the most inopportune time last night, eventually falling in the NACC tournament championship game by five in overtime.
RESULT IN OVERTIME
No. 5 seed MSOE – 75
No. 3 seed Concordia Wisconsin – 80
HOW IT HAPPENED
No. 3 Concordia Wisconsin (19-9, 15-5 NACC) won both contests during the regular season series against No. 5 MSOE (15-13, 10-10 NACC), but you wouldn't have known that based on the way the game started out. It was an opening half between two eventually matched opponents with neither team finding any sort of separating room to begin the game. The lead went back and forth, seeing several ties in the process before a Raiders 8-0 run allowed the good guys to settle into a good rhythm that would allow them to carry a 38-33 advantage into the half. The Falcons came out of the locker rooms flying high however, immediately going on a run and taking the lead back less than two minutes into the period. The cat and mouse chase from the first half resumed before MSOE built up their largest lead of the game of ten points with just less than eight and a half minutes left to play. It was at this point that their hot hand went cold. CUW proceeded to go on a 22-6 run to negate any Raiders advantage and send the game into overtime. The Falcons scoring run continued, doubling up the Raiders point total in the extra frame to take home the NACC tournament crown and end the Raiders 2019-20 season.
