Box Score MILWAUKEE – With just five games left in the regular season, MSOE women's soccer is in a good spot in terms of their postseason aspirations. However, every game still counts in their quest for homefield advantage in the NACC tournament. The Raiders helped themselves out tonight as they collected three more points in a 1-0 win over Illinois Tech at Viets Field.
RESULT
Illinois Tech – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All was quiet in the first half between MSOE (12-3-0, 8-1-0 NACC) and Illinois Tech (9-4-1, 6-3-0 NACC). Each team had five shots in the opening 45 minutes but neither could find the back of the net.
- The shutout didn't last long into the second half, however. Jill Ruark got off a quick pass to Nikki Ratts who immediately buried one to put the Raiders up 1-0 in the 52nd minute.
- The Scarlet Hawks got eight shots off in the final frame, five of which were on goal, but Megan Lacina denied each and every attempt in the shutout victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- This was the first win over Illinois Tech for the Raiders since they won 5-0 back in September of 2003. They are 2-4-1 against them in the overall series between the two programs.
- Tonight's goal for Nikki Ratts gives her 24 for her career, one shy from entering the top ten in program history.
