Raiders Make Playoffs Despite Loss To CUW

Box Score

MEQUON, Wis. – MSOE women's volleyball entered their NACC regular season finale on the cusp of their first playoff berth since 2008. While they were unable to come away with the win against CUW on Wednesday night, they still punched their ticket to the 2021 postseason.

RESULT
MSOE – 0 (9-21-18)
Concordia Wisconsin – 3 (25-25-25)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (19-11, 8-5 NACC) did not get off to a good start this evening, hitting -.120 and scoring just nine points in a first set loss.
  • Things started to come together in the second, however. The Red & White increased their kills total from four to 10 and hit .105 but still fell via a 25-21 score.
  • The Raiders were unable to force a fourth set though they accumulated 10 more kills and had their best hitting percentage of the night in the third frame.
  • Concordia Wisconsin (19-11, 8-5 NACC) attacked to the tune of .287 and had 21 more kills than the Raiders in the three-set sweep.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Though there was a four-way tie at 8-5 to end the NACC regular season, the Raiders won the tiebreaker with a head-to-head record of 2-1 against Illinois Tech, Edgewood, and Wisconsin Lutheran.
  • This will be the Raiders first trip to the postseason since the 2008 season when the NACC was known simply as the NAC.
  • The Red & White will enter the tournament as the fifth seed and will go up against No. 4 seed St. Nobert in De Pere, Wis. on Tuesday.
