Box Score DE PERE, Wis. – After getting a 3-2 win in a close battle with rival No. 5 seed Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, No. 4 MSOE was looking to keep their momentum going when they squared off against top seeded St. Norbert on Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Raiders were shutout on the offensive side of the ball, seeing their season wrap up in the NACC semifinals.
RESULT
No. 4 MSOE RAIDERS – 0
No. 1 St. Norbert – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Forget the seeding. MSOE (10-7-3, 7-3-2 NACC) and St. Norbert (12-6-1, 10-2-0 NACC) have been about as evenly matched as possible when they faced off earlier this season. Their first contest ended in a tight 1-0 win for SNC and based on the first half it looked like it was going to be more of the same.
- Each team had three shots in the opening period, but the scoreboard stayed silent after 45 minutes.
- It looked like the contest was headed into overtime after another quiet frame but a shot off a corner kick with exactly one minute remaining broke the scoreless tie and gave the Green Knights the 1-0 victory.
- The loss eliminates the Raiders and ends their quest for the NACC tournament championship.
