Box Score PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Still searching for their first NACC win of the year, your Raiders men's basketball team took to the court and faced off against Lakeland for the second straight night. A Michael Pitrof three pointer at the buzzer sent the game into overtime, but a costly turnover swung the tide in favor of the Muskies on Saturday night.
FINAL SCORE IN OVERTIME
MSOE Raiders – 80
Lakeland – 85
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (2-3, 0-2 NACC North) had an uphill climb in tonight's ballgame after a poor shooting first half. The Raiders shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, and while Lakeland (4-2, 3-1 NACC North) did not do much better, the Muskies still held an eight-point advantage going into the locker rooms. The Red and White stormed back in the second half though, making half of their shots while stepping up their defensive efforts. Lakeland made just 10 shots in the final frame of regulation and was held to 2-8 from behind the arc. The Muskies were a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe though and it took a buzzer beater from Michael Pitrof to send the game into overtime. Tied at 73-73, LU converted on a layup and immediately followed up with a steal and a trey to swing the contest five points in their favor. The Raiders would get back within one with 13 seconds left but had to foul. Lakeland made all four free throw attempts to seal the game and hand the Red and White a five-point defeat.
