Volleyball Unable To Cage Falcons

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MEQUON, Wis. – Raiders women's volleyball had an extremely rare Wednesday night match this evening, traveling just north of the city to take on Concordia Wisconsin. The Raiders did not make it easy for them, but the Falcons would go on to win both matches of the doubleheader in Mequon.

RESULT
Game One
MSOE RAIDERS – 1 (18, 25, 19, 14)
Concordia Wisconsin – 3 (25, 22, 25, 25)

Game Two
MSOE RAIDERS – 0 (23, 23, 21)
Concordia Wisconsin – 3 (25, 25, 25)

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (3-5, 1-5 NACC North) was competitive in game one of the doubleheader but just had too many errors to overcome to make any significant progress. The Raiders had seven kills and six errors in each of the first two sets but went into the third tied at 1-1 thanks to a Concorida Wisconsin (8-1, 7-1 NACC North) hitting percentage of -.049 in the second frame. Unfortunately, the Falcons would hit .258 and .440 in the last two stanzas of the match, sealing the deal on their 3-1 win. Quinn Borchert had nine kills to pace the team while Emily Stratton had three aces.

CUW did not let up in match number two but neither did MSOE. While the Raiders still lost in straight sets, they fell by a combined total of just eight points. The Red & White out blocked the Falcons and committed six less service errors than their opponent. However, it was CUW that had 20 more kills than MSOE which ultimately spelt defeat for the Raiders. Leading the team in kills was Italia Fields with six and Bekah Smith contributed 14 digs.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Red & White will be back in action on Saturday, April 10th when they take on Wisconsin Lutheran on the road. First serve of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
