Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 MADISON, Wis. – MSOE baseball entered the last two games of the regular season with a divisional title in their sights, however Edgewood had other plans. The Eagles split their two games with the Raiders on Sunday and sent the Red & White into the playoffs as the second seed in the north.
RESULTS
Game One
MSOE RAIDERS – 8
Edgewood – 3
Game Two
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Edgewood – 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
Much like they did the day before, MSOE (16-14, 13-7 NACC North) took advantage of two Edgewood (12-25, 6-14 NACC North) miscues in the first game of the afternoon. Five of the Raiders eight runs were of the unearned variety and they scored three different times on either a passed ball or wild pitch. Brandon Besch and Charlie Gannon each collected two RBIs and Mason LeBreck went seven strong innings of two run ball as the Raiders won 8-3.
Unfortunately, the Eagles would turn the tables in the last game of the regular season. Edgewood scored seven runs off of 11 hits against Red & White pitching in the backend of the doubleheader and while the Raiders had seven base knocks of their own, they were unable to climb out of the 6-0 hole they found themselves in before they plated their first runs of the contest. William Blank had both of the MSOE RBIs but it wasn't enough as the Eagles cost the Raiders a share of the NACC North regular season title.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will open up the NACC North Division tournament on Friday when they take on No. 3 seeded Concordia Wisconsin on Friday in Mequon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
