MSOE men's tennis came into this past weekend's regular season finale looking to gain some momentum heading into the 2021 NACC tournament. A solid win over Lakeland helped out that cause which allowed them to shutout Dominican to move forward to the NACC semifinals on a two-match winning streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (5-7, 4-2 NACC) brushed aside Lakeland (3-4, 3-3 NACC) on Saturday via a 7-2 score that allowed the Raiders to secure the third seed for the tournament and lockdown a quarterfinals home match. The teams of Josh Fay/Benjamin Steves and Alex Nakasato/Connor Splingaire earned the Red & White two doubles wins via scores of 8-3 and 8-2 respectively. Alec Dam joined his teammates with a singles win by the score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 to help the Raiders take five out of six solo matches and seal the deal on a quick victory.
Having gotten back on the winning path, the now No. 3 seed Red & White took on No. 6 seeded Dominican in the first round of the NACC playoffs. MSOE quickly dimmed the Stars hopes of advancing to the next round by never letting them get on the scoreboard. The Raiders ended the match as quickly as possible in a format that saw the match be played to decision and not completion. All three Red & White pairings won via either 8-1 or 8-4 decisions to put them up 3-0. Nakasato and Steves then proceeded to close out the ballgame as their 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 victories gave them the five points necessary to move on to the semifinals later this week.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will now take on No. 2 seed Concordia Wisconsin on Thursday. First serve from Mequon is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
