Box Score AURORA, Ill. – Slow starts haven't been kind to MSOE men's basketball as of late but that wasn't a problem this evening. The Raiders came out and put up 47 first half points to down Aurora and snap their ten game losing streak on Wednesday night in Illinois.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 78
Aurora – 65
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (6-11, 2-8 NACC) came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, shooting about 50 percent from the floor and sinking 17 field goals.
- Meanwhile, the Raiders defense almost kept Aurora (4-11, 3-6 NACC) under 20 points in the opening 20 minutes as the good guys led 47-21 at the half.
- The Red & White were fortunate that they had built up such a big lead in the first frame as the second didn't necessarily go their way. MSOE made just six shots in the last half of play, though they did make 18 of their 22 free throw attempts, a stat that would play a big part in the final outcome.
- The Spartans were able to take advantage of 13 Raiders miscues, much like the Red and White were able to do with the 11 turnovers Aurora had in the first half, but they were still unable to cut their deficit down to single digits as MSOE travels back to Milwaukee with a 13 point win.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Red & White win snapped a two-game skid against the Spartans dating back to December of 2019.
- Ty Miklowski was a force to be reckoned with tonight. The senior led the Raiders in points, rebounds, steals, and assists while playing 35 of the 40 minutes.
