Box Score CHICAGO – 90 minutes proved to be not enough time for MSOE women's soccer once again this season. The Raiders let a 2-1 lead slip away early on in the second half and were forced to settle for their fourth tie of the year in a 2-2 draw with Illinois Tech on Wednesday night.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Illinois Tech – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (9-3-4, 5-1-2 NACC) was looking to rebound after a 2-0 loss to Dominican on Saturday and got on the right track with an Addison Spilman goal in the 27th minute to open the scoring against Illinois Tech (11-2-2, 6-1-2).
- The Raiders padded that lead at 36:07 when Elizabeth Kuhn scored her seventh of the season to give the Red & White the 2-0 advantage.
- Unfortunately, that's where the MSOE offense stopped and the Scarlet Hawks scoring began. IIT added a late first half goal on a penalty kick to cut the Raiders lead in half before they added another tally less than four minutes into the second frame to even up the ballgame.
- IIT outshot the Red & White 17-6 and took the last five shots of the game but Reagan Tompkins held steady in net to salvage a point in the standings with the 2-2 draw.
RAIDER REMARKS
- Illinois Tech has been a tough out for the Raiders as they have tied two of their last three contests. IIT currently holds the series advantage 2-4-2.
