MSOE women's tennis headed into battle one last time this fall with matches against local NACC foes Concordia Wisconsin and Wisconsin Lutheran. While the Raiders didn't have much luck over the weekend, they've put themselves in a good spot moving forward into the NACC tournament in the spring.
RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
Concordia Wisconsin – 9
Wisconsin Lutheran – 8
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. Concordia Wisconsin
- MSOE (6-7, 6-3 NACC) didn't have much luck against the NACC's top team when they headed to Mequon to take on Concordia Wisconsin (9-2, 9-0 NACC) on Saturday.
- The Raiders were swept in both doubles and singles play leading to a Falcons 9-0 victory.
- The team of Brenna Sheehan and Bethany Noonan came closest to grabbing a point for the Red & White in pairs action and Gabrielle Haensgen was the top player for MSOE in singles.
- vs. Wisconsin Lutheran
- The Raiders tough luck continued on Sunday in a match against Wisconsin Lutheran (7-5, 6-2 NACC) that could have gone either way and was certainly closer than the score would make one assume.
- The Warriors took all three doubles matches but things could have easily gone in the Red and White's direction. Yuti Modi and Michaela Haensgen lost their match 8-6 and Sheehan and Noonan had to be beaten in a tiebreaker for WLC to score the point.
- Sheehan grabbed the lone match point for MSOE in the fifth singles spot, but Noonan also came close to scoring a win.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will pick up play again with non-conference action in the spring before starting the NACC tournament on Tuesday, April 25th with an opening round match.
