Box Score MONMOUTH, Ill. – MSOE women's basketball kicked off a busy week by making the four hour trek to Illinois to take on Monmouth. The shorthanded Raiders put together an admirable effort but were unable to slow down the Fighting Scots in a 65-47 loss on Monday night.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 47
Monmouth – 65
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (0-3) got off to a slow start in tonight's contest against Monmouth (2-3) and they were never able to catch up. The Raiders, who were playing without multiple starters, made just four shots from the field while getting outscored 15-9 in the opening ten minutes.
- The second quarter was a different story as the Red & White had a team high 17 points in the frame. Unfortunately, the hot handed Fighting Scots didn't slow down and went 9-12 in the period including four shots from behind the arc to take a 38-26 lead into halftime.
- The third and fourth quarters were almost mirror images of the way the first two quarters played out which meant that MSOE never got a chance to come back from their deficit. Monmouth topped the Red & White 13-9 and 14-12 in each stanza respectively to win the contest by 18.
