Box Score MILWAUKEE – Coming off two big wins against conference opponents, MSOE men's basketball took a break from NACC play to go up against the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point. The Raiders dealt with adversity several times throughout the game but found a way to come back each time to grab the nine point victory on Wednesday night at home.
FINAL SCORE
UW-Stevens Point – 64
MSOE RAIDERS – 73
HOW IT HAPPENED
- There were two ties and five lead changes tonight between MSOE (5-3) and UW-Stevens Point (6-4) and that back and forth rally started immediately once the ball was tipped off. The Pointers ran out to a quick 10-3 lead before the Raiders stormed back with a 9-0 run to grab an advantage that would last most of the period.
- However, UW-SP got the last laugh before the intermission. They scored 18 out of the last 24 points to close out the half and assumed their largest lead of the night at nine with 16:47 left to go in the second stanza.
- The Red & White once again refused to back down though. They slowly chipped away at the Pointers lead and finally took control of the contest for good with a Cade Beekman jumper at 9:16.
- Point would climb back within two tallies with less than four minutes to go, but MSOE closed out the game with an 8-1 run of their own to secure the nine point victory in front of a packed house inside Hotchkin Arena.
RAIDER REMARKS
- Tonight was the first time that the Raiders and Pointers met on a court in men's basketball.
- The Raiders seven turnovers in the game put them just outside the top five for fewest miscues in a single contest.
- Mason Dopirak has scored a total of 83 points in the last three Red & White contests which were all victories.
