Box Score MILWAUKEE – MSOE women's basketball returned from the holiday break to take on crosstown foe Cardinal Stritch inside the Kern Center for their second to last game of the 2022 calendar year. While it wasn't the prettiest of contests, the Raiders got a clutch three pointer to fall with just seconds remaining to secure a two point win against the Wolves on Thursday evening.
FINAL SCORE
Cardinal Stritch – 44
MSOE RAIDERS – 46
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither MSOE (3-7, 2-2 NACC) nor Cardinal Stritch (2-11) shot particularly well this evening, but it was the Raiders that held control of the contest for the first three frames. Their advantage was helped by a second quarter where they shot 50 percent while they also held the Wolves to just 23 points for three quarters of the game.
- Stritch put up a fight though. The Wolves almost matched their game total in the fourth with 21 points off 6-for-13 shooting and grabbed their first lead since the opening stanza with 6:13 left to play.
- The advantage went back and forth several times but two free throws with 13 seconds left gave CSU the one point lead. However, with five ticks left on the clock Skylar Flanagan put up a three pointer from the corner that found the hoop to put MSOE up 46-44.
- The Wolves had a chance to at least tie the game but suffocating Red & White defense on the last possession didn't allow Stritch to get a shot off in the time remaining to secure the two point Raiders win.
RAIDER REMARKS
- This was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
