Raiders Swept By Titans In Home Opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GLENDALE, Wis. – MSOE baseball had their 2022 home opener one week early thanks to mother nature and some schedule juggling. Unfortunately, the results weren't as nice as the temperature outside on an above-average mid-March afternoon. The Raiders welcomed UW-Oshkosh to MSOE Raiders Stadium but were dealt two losses in their first doubleheader in Wisconsin this season.

RESULTS
UW-Oshkosh – 8
MSOE RAIDERS – 4

UW-Oshkosh – 5
MSOE RAIDERS – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • GAME ONE
    • MSOE (3-7) were put in a hole early on against UW-Oshkosh (4-4) in game one of their doubleheader on Sunday and weren't able to recover. The Titans scored two in the first, one in the second, and one in the fourth to go up 4-0.
    • After UW-O made it 5-0 in the top half of the seventh, the Raiders scored four of their own in the bottom of the same inning. Nathan Kennedy singled to plate the first run which was followed up by a Kyle Labedz sac fly and a Brandon Beauchamp two-RBI triple.
    • The Titans would add some insurance though with three runs over the next two innings to seal the deal on their 8-4 win.
  • GAME TWO
    • Three of the four Red & White runs were unearned in the second game of the afternoon as the two clubs battled it out in a much closer contest.
    • Each squad plated two runs in the third and one in fifth, but it was the Titans lone run in the fourth that provided them with a 4-3 lead.
    • UW-Oshkosh added another run to go up 5-3 before the Raiders mounted a comeback. MSOE scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to cut their deficit down to just a single run and they had the tying run just 90-feet away before a fly ball to the shortstop cut their comeback short in a 5-4 defeat.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The Raiders are 0-5 all time against UW-Oshkosh but will have a chance to break through with a win against the Titans coming up again shortly.
