Raiders, Eagles Battle In Baseball Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GLENDALE, Wis. – It was a battle of two of the top teams in the NACC when MSOE baseball took on Benedictine at MSOE Raiders Stadium. While the Raiders were able to come out on top in a game one slugfest, they found themselves on the wrong end of a solid pitching performance during the second game of the twin bill on Sunday afternoon.

RESULTS
Benedictine – 9
MSOE RAIDERS – 11

Benedictine – 6
MSOE RAIDERS – 2

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Game One
    • The first game of the day between MSOE (11-10, 6-2 NACC) and Benedictine (13-6, 7-1 NACC) could have given scoreboard watchers whiplash based on how many times the lead was traded. 13 runs were scored between the two teams in the first four innings alone.
    • The runs kept being poured on, but the Raiders finally grabbed the lead for good starting in the sixth inning. Down 8-7, Micah Overley singled home a run before Kyle Labedz added another via the sacrifice to give the Red & White the 9-8 lead.
    • The Eagles would go on to tie the contest at 9-9 in their next at-bats, but it was all MSOE from that point on. A Blake Hall single in the bottom half of the seventh and a Chris Barnes double in the eighth gave the Raiders enough insurance to grab the 11-9 victory.
    • Joseph Teschke came on in relief to grab his second win of the season, giving up just one earned run in five innings.
  • Game Two
    • The offense was a little more one sided in game two. Benedictine jumped out to a 6-0 lead in their first three half innings and the Eagles pitching shut the Red & White down on the other side of the ball.
    • MSOE was able to plate one run in the bottom of the third and eighth, but it wasn't nearly enough in the four-run loss.
    • One bright spot was Nolan Vincent. The sophomore was stellar once again in relief and didn't allow a single run to score in five innings of work.
