HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (20-15, 15-5 NACC) and Lakeland (16-18, 6-14 NACC) engaged in a classic pitcher's duel to start the afternoon in Plymouth. There were a combined seven hits between the two teams and neither side registered an RBI.
- The first run of the game was scored by Brandon Beauchamp. After reaching first base via hit by pitch to start the contest, he would eventually come around to score on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 Raiders. Collin Truitt accounted for the only other run in the ballgame, also scoring off a miscue in the top of the seventh.
- Starter Tyler Gronert went all nine innings, scattering just four hits and two walks during the complete game shutout while striking out 12 for his eighth win of the year.
- Game Two
- The outcome of game two was a complete 180 from Sunday's opener. The Raiders plated 19 runs on 23 hits to mercy rule the Muskies after eight innings.
- The two big frames for the Raiders were the second and the sixth where they scored six runs in each. Brandon Beauchamp had five RBIs while Collin Truitt, Blake Hall, and Nolan Wojciechowski each had three apiece.
- In terms of pitching, it was a true bullpen game for the Red & White. Kurt Giricz got the start and went 2.0 innings with one earned run before giving way to Luke Schraufnagel who got the win behind 3.2 innings pitched and five strikeouts. Jeffery Stanish also sat five batters down on strikes as the Raiders won by 11.
RAIDER REMARKS
- With his third strikeout of the day in game one, senior Tyler Gronert broke the Raiders single season record of 61 which was a mark he tied Sam Crawford for back in 2021. He is currently 15 away from breaking the Red & White's career record of 185.
