Box Score MILWAUKEE – MSOE women's volleyball has been very competitive in quite a few matches so far this season but have been unable to shut the door on their opponents and close things out. That trend ended tonight though. The Raiders didn't back down and came away with a thrilling five set win in front of a lively crowd in the Kern Center on Saturday night.
RESULT
Carroll – 2 (21, 26, 22, 25, 11)
MSOE RAIDERS – 3 (25, 24, 25, 23, 15)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- An 8-0 run in the beginning of the first set propelled MSOE (1-6, 0-1 NACC) to an opening frame victory with a 25-21 win.
- The second set was anyone's ballgame as the lead flip flopped between the Raiders and Carroll 12 different times. Unfortunately, the Pioneers were able to edge out the Red & White 26-24 to even up the match.
- The Raiders answered back though, jumping out to an eight-point lead midway through the third. Carroll would try to climb back into it, but MSOE shut the door on a 25-22 win.
- The Red & White had a chance to end things in four, but a six-point lead was erased by the Pioneers who came away with the 25-23 victory to force a fifth and final set.
- The lead once again swayed back and forth between the two clubs, but a 7-4 run allow the Raiders to shut down CU and earn their first win of the season with a 15-11 victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders have now won two of their last three matches against Carroll with the last victory coming back in August of 2019.
