HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fresh off a come from behind victory in their season opener against UT-Dallas on Thursday, MSOE (1-0-1) tried keeping that momentum going when they took on Southwestern (0-0-1) in the second and final game of their Texas trip.
- Unfortunately, the offense wasn't really there for either team as the two defenses duked it out. The two squads combined for just ten shots overall in 90 minutes, seven of which ended up on goal.
- The Raiders had their chances against the Pirates, especially in the second half where they outshot their opponent 5-2, but the Red & White could never find the back of the twine in a 0-0 stalemate.
RAIDER REMARKS
- Friday marked the first ever meeting between MSOE and Southwestern.
- The new NCAA soccer rules were in full force during this one. Starting this year, all regular season games will end at 90 minutes with no overtimes in the event of a tie score. Extra periods will only come into effect in postseason play.
- This is the first Raiders contest that has ended in a tie since the Red & White and Illinois Tech went to a double overtime 0-0 draw back on October 5, 2019.
