Comeback Not in the Cards for Raiders

Box Score

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – In a tightly fought battle that saw a near comeback for the MSOE men's basketball team, the Raiders couldn't find a way to get past the Lakeland Muskies on Tuesday night on the road.

FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 73
Lakeland - 74

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lakeland (11-8, 5-7 NACC) used the home court to their advantage, starting out with a 12-5 lead five minutes into the contest. Donovan Carter went on a 9-2 run by himself to tie up the game at 14 as they would begin to trade baskets for most of the first half. Mason Dopirak would then make a jump shot in the final seconds to give MSOE (9-11, 5-8 NACC) a 29-27 lead going into the break.
  • A Carter three pointer gave the Raiders their largest lead of the game with 14:24 left in the game, however, the Muskies scored five points of their own quickly to tie up the game and trade back and forth yet again. The deficit grew to nine for the Raiders with 2:18 remaining, but quick points and free throws from the Red & White put them to within one with just nine seconds left. Unfortunately, a missed jump shot in the final seconds would force the comeback to be incomplete.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Donovan Carter's 22 points is a season high, passing his 21-point performance against Benedictine back on December 10th.
  • Both teams shot over 50% from the field in the second half, but the Raiders only shot 20% from behind the arch compared to the Muskies 55.6%.
