MILWAUKEE – A first half explosion from both sides before the rain came through set up the MSOE women's soccer team as they shutout the St. Norbert College Green Knights to extend their streak.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 4
St. Norbert - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first thirteen minutes did not disappoint as Leena Afifi got the night started slicing through the St. Norbert (9-6-2, 7-3-1 NACC) for a 1-0 lead five minutes in. Just a minute later, the Green Knights sailed a free kick through to tie MSOE (14-1-3, 10-1-0 NACC). Grace Quinn struck her fifth of the season on the feed from Emma Halverson, but the Green Knights answer on a tapper. The rest of the first half remained scoreless, as the two headed into the break knotted up at two.
- The Raiders couldn't find any great scoring chances for the first 30 minutes of the second half until a corner kick came in the 73rd minute. A sailing kick from Halverson lined up perfectly for Afifi to headed it right into the left corner to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead. As many Green Knights tried to gain control to answer, Elizabeth Kuhn was able to take it herself past the goalie to extend the lead, proving to be an insurance goal as the Raiders finished them off 4-2.
