Women's Basketball Falls On Senior Night

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Looking for their third straight victory to end the season, MSOE women's basketball took on crosstown rival Wisconsin Lutheran inside the Kern Center. The season finale wouldn't go the Raiders way however in a double digit loss to the Warriors on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE
Wisconsin Lutheran – 61
MSOE RAIDERS – 44

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (7-18, 6-12 NCHA) struggled from the field in the first half which was one of the factors that led to their loss on Senior Day against Wisconsin Lutheran (18-7, 15-3 NACC). The Raiders made just six of their 28 attempts in the first half and trailed 37-21 at the intermission.
  • The Red & White picked things up in the third frame however. They made six of their 12 shots, three of which were from long range, and eventually cut a 20 point deficit in half on a Chloe Kurkjian layup with less than 12 minutes left to go in the game
  • The Warriors wouldn't let the Raiders capitalize though. WLC built up their biggest lead of the night at 2:34 remaining when MSOE went down by 21 and eventually settled for a 17 point win to end the Raiders season on a sour note.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The Raiders defense did their job by holding WLC to just 36.4 percent shooting from the field but fouls were where they got into trouble. MSOE was assessed with 21 personal fouls which led to the Warriors going 15-for-19 from the charity stripe.
  • MSOE celebrated their three seniors before this afternoon's game. While Alyssa Cazares had to sit the year out due to injuries, both Samantha Brown and Wendy Guan got into the game
    • Guan: 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals in 17 minutes
    • Brown: 2 rebounds in six minutes
