Raiders Douse Inferno With Offensive Onslaught

MILWAUKEE – MSOE softball looked to get back on track after a game two loss on Tuesday when they took on Alverno across town to begin the weekend. The Raiders offense made themselves heard, throwing 35 runs up on the board in just 12 innings during a two game sweep on Saturday.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 18
Alverno – 0

MSOE RAIDERS – 17
Alverno – 10

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (19-9, 11-3 NACC) made quick work of Alverno (4-21, 1-12 NACC) in game one, falling just short of 20 runs in a five inning mercy rule shutout.
    • The Raiders plated five runs in the first two innings and another four in the fourth, but they did major damage in the last frame of the game. The Red & White pushed nine across home plate highlighted by a Jenna O'Donnell bases clearing triple.
    • Nine MSOE players recorded at least one RBI and Kennedy Lehn struck out 14 in the winning effort to earn the team their 10th NACC win of the year.
  • Game Two
    • The second contest of the day had a little bit of a different look but still had the same result. The two ball clubs traded four run first innings and Alverno actually took the lead with two in the second.
    • The Raiders got one back in the third before hitting the gas in the later innings. They scored four in the fifth, five in the sixth, and capped things off with three more in the seventh for good measure.
    • MSOE had three home runs (Lauren Stefanczyk, Jocelyn Clodi, Alyssa Jacobson), two triples, and six stolen bases in the 17-10 victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
  • The Raiders have come away with the win in the last 14 meetings between themselves and Alverno, outscoring the Inferno 83-13 in the last five.
