Raiders Roll Past Regents

MILWAUKEE – 24 hours after christening MSOE Raiders Field with a doubleheader sweep of Concordia Chicago, MSOE softball looked to keep their home record pristine when they took on Rockford. The Regents didn't put up much of a fight as the Raiders cruised to another doubleheader sweep to move to 4-0 in NACC play.

RESULTS
Rockford – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 5

*Five Innings*
Rockford – 1
MSOE RAIDERS – 13

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • Even though they didn't know it at the time, MSOE (11-5, 4-0 NACC) plated the game winning run in the first inning off a Morgan Long double, one of the three that she had in the game. Another double from Lauren Stefanczyk and a single from Alyssa Jacobson had the Raiders up 3-0 after just two innings.
    • Kennedy Lehn was on her game for the second straight start and took things from there. She went all seven innings, giving up just six hits and striking out seven in the complete game shutout.
    • Stefanczyk gave the Red & White two more insurance tallies in the top of the fifth with a single that plated Long and Reagan Jordan as the Raiders took game one 5-0.
  • Game Two
    • Rockford (8-8, 1-3 NACC) finally scored their first run of the day in the second game, but the lone run that starter Sarah Grossman gave up in the top of the fourth inning was of no consequence in the outcome of the ballgame.
    • MSOE scored runs in each of their four trips to the plate with two runs being plated in the first and second innings. One more came in the third before the Raiders exploded for eight in the fourth.
    • All but two Raiders registered an RBI, with Faith Matta, Morgan Long, and Alyssa Jacobson each having two or more in a 13-1 mercy rule shortened contest.
RAIDER REMARKS
  • The Raiders are 20-4 against Rockford and are on a 17 game winning streak against the Regents.
  • The Red & White recorded eight doubles and had a pair of home runs between the two contests.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES WHO'S ON DECK
With tomorrow's doubleheader between MSOE and UW-La Crosse being postponed due to weather, the Raiders will next take the field on Saturday, April 8th when they take on Concordia Wisconsin for a big NACC matchup in Mequon. First pitch of game one is slated for 12:00 pm.
