Men's Lacrosse Nets Fourth Straight Win

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – MSOE men's lacrosse hit the road for their first NACC away contest this evening when they took on Marian. The Raiders used a big second quarter and kept pace with the Sabres the rest of the way to lock down a 10-6 victory on Wednesday night.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 10
MARIAN – 6

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tonight's game between MSOE (4-3, 2-0 NACC) and Marian (8-2, 1-1 NACC) started with a feeling out process in the first quarter. Each team scored a single goal with the Raiders tally being credited to Peter Russchenberg. The sophomore would continue being a frequent name in the box score with two more in the second as the Red & White went on a 4-0 run to take a 5-1 advantage heading into halftime.
  • MSOE kept pouring it on in the third as Russchenberg and Riley Woyatas made it 7-1 before the Sabres found the back of the net for the first time since the opening frame. Thankfully, the Raiders would offset their opponent's successful scoring chances with two goals of their own and held on to a 9-3 lead with 15 minutes left to play.
  • However, just like with their opposition this past Saturday, Marian wouldn't go away quietly. The home team netted three straight to begin the fourth to draw within three. Tanner Whipps prevented the comeback from making any further progress though with a goal at 3:46 to put the Red & White back up 10-6.
  • That score would hold up until the final buzzer, giving the Raiders their second straight conference win and their fourth in a row overall.
RAIDER REMARKS
  • The Raiders are now 4-1 against Marian all time and have scored at least 10 goals in each one of those victories.
  • The Red & White were 2-for-5 on man-up opportunities this evening.
