PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – MSOE rowing took the journey east to participate in one of the biggest events of the year at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. The Raiders had two varsity boats advance to the finals in their respective rounds including the woman's boat that made it to the medal race.
VARSITY RESULTS
Men's +4 – 3
rd place (6:59.614)
Women's +8 – 4
th place (7:33.763)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The men's Varsity +4, helmed by
Owen Podziemski, used a fifth place finish and a time of 7:14.12 in their opening race to advance to the finals in their category. The Raiders proceeded to make a vast improvement in that race and shaved over 15 seconds off their finish. This effort was good enough for a third place finish at the meet, ahead of Stockton, Vermont, and Rutgers.
The women's Varsity +8, helmed by
Nicole Harris, went all out at the regatta to continue the positive momentum that they have had for several weeks. Their time of 7:16.68 and a third place finish in their opening race put them in the Grand Final on the second and final day of the competition. It was there that the Red & White finished just outside of medal position, crossing the line in fourth place with a time of 7:33.67, less than a second off a bronze medal finish.
