CHICAGO – Conference play began on the south side of Chicago Thursday evening for the MSOE women's volleyball team unfortunately going to the side of Illinois Tech, defeating the Raiders in a sweep.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
Illinois Tech - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither side could create rhythm to begin the match as the two were tied as late as 17 each. A 7-2 run from Illinois Tech (2-6, 1-0 NACC) took them all the way to set point, eventually holding off MSOE (3-6, 0-1 NACC) who rattled off three straight in hopes of surviving to instead fall 25-22.
- The Raiders offense couldn't spark anything in the second set, hitting .000. The Scarlet Hawks mistakes kept them in the set, but a 9-0 run from them pulled them away from the Raiders, taking the second set 25-19.
- The long runs the Scarlet Hawks were able to form in set three really hurt the Raiders, as a 10-0 and a 6-0 run gapped them to lead the Red & White couldn't make up. The Scarlet Hawks easily cruise away, winning 25-14.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Scarlet Hawks are closing in on being .500 all-time against the Raiders following their second straight victory over the squad from the Cream City.
