Raiders Split Day Two of Ripon College Classic

RIPON, Wis. – After a successful day yesterday, the MSOE women's volleyball team returned to the Ripon College Classic splitting their matches, defeating Wisconsin-Superior and falling to University of Dubuque.

RESULTS
MSOE Raiders – 3
Wisconsin Superior – 1

MSOE Raiders – 1
University of Dubuque - 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs. Wisconsin-Superior
    • After the two sides began trading blows to each other, an 8-1 run by MSOE (3-1) gave them a clear advantage in the first set, eventually taking it 25-19. Wisconsin-Superior (2-2) took momentum to begin the second set, but the Raiders found their rhythm with an 8-0 run in the middle of the set eventually winning 25-20.
    • The Yellowjacks wouldn't go away, as they took the third set 25-16 and pushed the Raiders deep into the fourth set. The Raiders made enough short runs, capped off by an Ava Larson kill to take the victory winning the fourth set 25-22.
    • Larson led the Raiders in kills with ten, along with Avery Longrie as well. Gillian McDaniel and Olivia Bartels each had three service aces as the Raiders had nine total, compared to the Yellowjackets' six.
  • vs. University of Dubuque
    • University of Dubuque (4-0) wasted no time jumping out ahead in the first two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-15. Emma Schattschneider produced four kills in the first six points for the Raiders in set three to set the tone as they began to trade blows with each other throughout, as a dump from Joelle Harrington capped off a 25-23 set three victory to extend, but the Spartans picked right back up from the first two sets, running away with a 25-15 victory.
    • Schattschneider and Ana Knutson each led the team with seven kills, while Larson had a massive match serving, totaling five service aces.
